Children can no longer be included on the passport of a parent or guardian, and must have their own passport in order to travel overseas.
Despite the obvious difficulties, most of the conditions that apply to an adult passport photo also applies to one for a child or baby of any age. However, common sense does dictate that limited allowances be made for very young subjects.
The list of requirements in our guide to submitting a Biometric Passport Photo apply, but with the following amendments –
- Babies can be supported by a hand, but the hand must not be seen in the submitted photo
- No dummies or toys must be in the picture
- Children under 6 do not need a neutral expression
- Babies under 1 do not need their eyes open
It should also be noted that passports issued to anyone aged 15yrs or under are only valid for 5 years.
